ART / KIRSTEN LEPORE

Today I wanna share with you a really special highlight. It’s a film of Animation Artist 
Kirsten Lepore, which I fortunately discovered a few weeks earlier. One night I was bored 
and zapped around on TV, as I luckily came across a film about Kirsten Lepore and her 
Stop-Animation-Film called “Hi Stranger”.

In this film a naked figure lays on the belly and talks to the audience. At first 
I grinned and was distract by the oddity of this waxy-looking creature, especially of his butt and 
face – yes, and that’s right in this order. Throughout the film this little something talks to me 
and irritation was quickly replaced by another feeling. I could not shake the impression this delicate
 being is really talking to ME. A feeling of warmth began to spread I didn’t know to call. That 
feeling got it’s name only after the film was over.

I felt loved by this clumsily moving and translucent being wiht it's strangely eyes. I guess as far as
 I was concerned, Kirsten Lepore hat achieved everything what she previously intended with this film.

/ Heute möchte ich unbedingt ein ganz besonderes Highlight mit euch teilen. Es ist ein Film von 
der Animations-Künstlerin Kristen Lepore, den ich glückerlicherweise vor ein paar Wochen 
entdeckt habe. Eines Nachts habe ich etwas uninspiriert im TV rumgezappt, als ich auf einen 
Beitrag über Kristen Lepore stoß, in dem es um diesen kleinen Animationsfilm ging.

In diesem Film liegt eine nackte Figur auf dem Bauch und spricht mit einem. Am Anfang habe 
ich geschmunzelt und war sehr von der Merkwürdigkeit dieses wächsernen Wesens 
abgelenkt, besonders von dessen Po und Gesicht – ja, genau in der Reihenfolge. Den gesamten 
Film über richtet dieses Wesen das Wort an einen, und schnell macht die Irritation Platz für 
ein anderes Gefühl. Ich wurde den Eindruck nicht los, dass dieses zarte Wesen tatsächlich mit 
MIR sprach. Ein Gefühl von Wärme machte sich in mir breit, für das ich noch keinen weiteren 
Namen hatte. Dieses Gefühl bekam erst einen Namen, als der Film vorbei war.

Ich fühlte mich geliebt von diesem etwas unglenken, durchscheinenden Wesen mit seinen 
komischen Augen. Ich denke, Kirsten Lepore hat bei mir alles geschafft, was sie mit ihrem

The Belgian Artist Eddy Stevens is considered to be one of the most talented painters of our 

time. I’m not very interested in that attribute. Also hyperrealism isn’t necessarily what I’m 

impressed with. When I found his series “The Contemporary Past” accidently on the internet, I 

was immediately mesmerized by the peculiar beauty of his work. That’s what art can do at best:

 it touches.

/ Der Belgier Eddy Stevens  wird als einer der besten Künstler unserer Zeit gehandelt. Das ist

 kein Attribut, dass mich sehr interessiert. Auch hyperrealistische Kunst ist nicht unbedingt das, 

was mich sehr beeindruckt. Als ich jedoch auf seine Serie namens „The Contemporary Past“

 stoß, war ich sofort gebannt von dieser eigentümlichen Schönheit seiner Werke. Das ist, was 

Kunst im besten Fall mit einem macht: sie berührt.

Juul Kraijer is a well-established artist from the Netherlands. In the last years she has shifted
 her focus from drawing and sculpturing to photography. I can't stop looking at these pictures, it
 put me in a kind of hypnotic trance. It's worth it to have a look at her whole body of work: JUUL KRAIJER

/ Juul Kraijer ist eine hoch etablierte Künstlerin aus den Niederlanden. In den letzten Jahren hat 
sie ihren Fokus von der Zeichnung und der der Skulptur-Arbeit auf die Fotografie verlegt. Ich 
kann nicht aufhören diese Fotos zu betrachten, sie versetzen mich in eine Art hypnotischen Zustand.

Maybe you already know about Kopenhagen's ode to happiness ? Since 2013 the HAPPY

WALL developed into a visitor magnet. Anyone can leave words or a message by flipping

 over wooden boards which are black on the one and various coloured on the other side. The

 HAPPY WALL was puzzled out and built by the Danish recycle artist Thomas Dambo. I 

wished there were one in every city in the world! 

Thomas Dambo has limited his own work options by using only bulky waste. This so called

 trash provides an inexhaustable material source so in fact there is no limitation at all. It's

 absolute fascinating that he creates full time jobs for himself and a few other people from 

using things that other people considered as useless. So I'll keep my eyes open für bulky

Vielleicht ist euch bereits die Kopenhagener Ode an das Glück bekannt? Seit 2013 hat sich

 die HAPPY WALL zu einem Publikumsmagneten entwickelt. Jeder kann dort ein Wort oder 

eine Nachricht hinterlassen, indem er die schwarzen Holztafeln auf die unterschiedlich 

farbigen Rückseiten dreht. Die HAPPY WALL hat der dänische Recyclekünstler Thomas

 Dambo ausgetüftelt und errichtet. Ich wünschte, es gäbe in jeder Stadt dieser Welt eine!

Thomas Sabo hat seine Arbeitsoptionen dahingehend eingeschränkt, dass er lediglich

 Sperrmüll verwendet. Dieser sogenannte Müll stellt eine unversiegbare Quelle an Material

 dar, sodass es in Wirklichkeit keinerlei Begrenzung gibt. Es ist absolut faszinierend, dass

 er Vollzeitjobs für sich und ein paar andere Leute schafft, indem er Dinge benutzt, die andere

 für nutzlos ansehen. Also, ich werden meine Augen nach Sperrmüll offen halten.

You know by now that I have a deep love for Collage Art and so it

 was just a matter of time to come across with this both artist´s work.

 In a nutshell: This picture catched my eye first and so I wanna 

share it with you.

/ Wie ihr inzwischen wisst, liebe ich  Collage Kunst und somit war 

es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis ich auf die Arbeit dieser beiden Künstler 

stoßen würde. Kurz gesagt: Dieses Bild stach mir als erstes ins 

Auge, weshalb ich es mit euch teilen möchte.

Lola Dupré was born 1982 and grew up in Algeria, France, England and Scotland. She restricts herself to the traditional realm of cut and paste: she does her collages completely by hand on wood panels, using good old fashioned glue and scissors. 

Her works seem so familiar and recognisable, even when I have never seen them before. How much detail and accuracy goes into each one of her Collages! Her art provide clear evidence, it does not take much material to create something that´s astonishing.

 / Lola Dupré wurde 1982 geboren und wuchs in Algerien, Frankreich, England und Schottland auf.  Ausschneiden und Einfügen ist der traditionelle Bereich, auf den sie sich beschränkt: ihre Collagen fertigt sie per Hand auf Holzpaneelen und benutzt hierzu guten alten Klebstoff und Schere.

Auch wenn ich ihre Collagen nie zuvor gesehen habe, wirken sie vertraut wie alte Bekannte. Wie viel Detailarbeit und Genauigkeit in jeder ihrer Collagen steckt!  Ihre Kunst zeigt deutlich, dass es
 nicht viel an Material braucht, um erstaunliches zu erschaffen.

ARTIST AH XIAN

'Metaphysica' is the title given by Ah Xian to this ongoing series of bronze busts.

Ah Xian is a senior Chinese–Australian artist who is best known for his contemporary

 use of the ancient mediums of porcelain, lacquer, cloisonné and jade. Like the

 philosoph of metaphysics, these sculptures joyously explore the nature of existence 

and imply something beyond the physical entities we inhabit.

/ 'Metaphysica' ist der Titel, den Ah Xian seiner fortlaufenden Serie von Bronze-Büsten

 gegeben hat. Ah Xian ist ein etablierter Künstler mit chinesisch-australischen Wurzeln, der

 für die zeitgemäße Verwendung von Porzellan, der Lackkunst und Jade bekannt geworden ist.  

Wie es der Philosphie von Metphysik entspricht, drücken diese Skulpturen voller Freude

 die Natur des Daseins aus und deuten etwas an, das jenseits dieses Seins stecken könnte.

STREETART BY BORONDO - "Let´s bring an end to ´graffiti-tourism´"

Borondo is an artist out of Spain whose work is loosely based in classical painting techniques,
 a somewhat uncommon sight in the world of street art. A far cry from the tight, linear style
 of graffiti, Borondo´s murals utilize sweeping, expressive brushstrokes that demonstrate little restraint.

Malerei beruht, ein etwas ungewohnter Anblick in der Welt des Streetart. Weit entfernt
